Immerse yourself in the high-mountain landscapes of Chingaza National Natural Park and experience one of Colombia’s most important ecosystems in all its depth. Wander through endless páramos, sacred lagoons, and misty forests, and discover the natural and cultural richness protected within this ancestral territory as you connect with the origins of water, life, and the calm of the mountains.
Chingaza is a natural sanctuary of more than 76,000 hectares, located in the Eastern Andes of Colombia, between the departments of Cundinamarca and Meta. This park is one of the country’s main water sources, providing water to millions of people, including much of Bogotá and its surrounding areas.
In addition to its immeasurable hydrological value, Chingaza is one of the most biodiverse páramo ecosystems on the planet. It is home to hundreds of plant species—among them the iconic frailejón—as well as a great variety of birds, amphibians, and mammals such as the white-tailed deer, the spectacled bear, the puma, and the Andean condor. This territory was also sacred to the Muisca people, who left a profound spiritual legacy throughout its mountains and lagoons.
Visiting Chingaza means stepping into the very heart of Colombia’s water, life, and mountains.
