THE LOST CITY –
SANTA MARTA SNOWY MOUNTAIN RANGE

amazonas

Enjoy one of the most amazing trekking in South America, going through forests, rivers and mountains, the sacred places of the ancient Tayrona civilization.

Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City), also known as Teyuna and located at 1,200m, is an old indigenous town of the already disappeared Tayrona civilization. It was build in the 8th century AC and discovered by guaqueros (grave robbers) in 1973. Teyuna is part of the more than 250 old towns we can find in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia north region. It is believed that around 8.000 people lived there until conquerors arrived and indigenous people were forced to abandon their lands.

The journey that is detailed ahead is a beautiful rout of approximately 50 Km in which travellers will be able to enjoy forest, rivers, mountains, and ancient sacred places still preserved by the four indigenous ethnics groups that inhabit the region (Wiwas, Koguis, Kancuamos and Aruacos).

Walking through those sacred mountains was a magical and important experience for my life.

The entire tour is very beautiful, especially from the second day on. Arriving to Ciudad Perdida after three days of hiking was a present I will never forget. The energy you can feel in this place is wonderful.

I feel infinitely grateful!
