We’ll greet travelers at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in Tanzania and take them to the hotel in Moshi. You’ll have some free time to rest, get used to the new time zone, and explore the city.

After breakfast, we’ll be picked up from the hotel and head to Marangu Gate. There, we’ll complete the park registration and start hiking through the dense tropical jungle, where we’ll spot local vegetation and maybe some primates. Once we reach Mandara Hut, we can rest and go explore Mandara Crater, with its stunning view of neighboring Kenya.

The day kicks off with an early breakfast. Shortly after leaving Mandara Hut, we’ll reach the upper limit of the forest and then move into the moorland and highland areas. About 4-6 hours later, we’ll arrive at Horombo Hut, located at 3,700 meters. From the hut, we’ll have a fantastic view of Mawenzi, Kibo, and the wide Masai steppe.

Today is an acclimatization day that will help improve our chances of success in reaching the summit. After a relaxing breakfast, we’ll hike for 4 hours to Zebra Rocks (4,020 m), named after the black and white stripes of the rock formation. Afterward, we’ll head back to Horombo Hut for lunch and a relaxing afternoon.

On our fourth day, we’ll walk a trail with two notable points: “Last Water Point” and the “Saddle”. This almost vegetation-free plateau connects the Kibo and Mawenzi summits. After about 5-6 hours of hiking, we’ll arrive at Kibo Hut. We’ll have an early dinner and rest up for the night.

Today’s “big day”, the summit stage. We’ll start the final ascent around midnight, it’s going to be long and demanding. We’ll pass by Hans Meyer Cave at 5,220 m, with a slow but steady climb. By sunrise, we’ll reach Gillman’s Point (5,681 m), the rim of the Kilimanjaro crater, where the sun will start warming the ground. Soon, we’ll forget the night’s chill, and after 1-2 more hours of hiking, we’ll reach the highest point in Africa, Uhuru Peak (5,891 m). Afterward, we’ll head back to Kibo Hut, where we’ll enjoy a hot meal and rest for 1-2 hours before descending to Horombo Hut.

Today we’ll pass through the moorland and highland areas, then head back to Mandara Hut for a well-deserved lunch. Soon, we’ll walk back through the tropical rainforest, and after 6 hours of hiking, we’ll reach the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. Here, we’ll say goodbye to our guides, porters, and cooks, and head back to the hotel in Arusha to celebrate with a nice dinner and a relaxing hot shower.

Today we’ll have some free time to relax. You’ll have the option to explore the city at your own pace, visit the Materuni waterfalls, and learn about the Chagga culture and their traditions. You can also visit the Kikuletwa hot springs for a relaxing bath.

We’ll explore Tarangire National Park, the sixth largest in Tanzania, known for its vast plains dotted with Baobab trees, dense bushes, and tall grasses. Enjoy a true safari experience where we’ll see plenty of wildlife, including the Big Five: lion, elephant, rhinoceros, leopard, and buffalo. In the afternoon, we’ll head to the lodge to settle in for the night.

On our second day of safari, we’ll visit Serengeti National Park, famous for its annual wildebeest migration from July to September, when thousands of wildebeests move in search of water and fresh grass. If we’re lucky, we might witness this incredible natural spectacle, along with many other animals.

In the afternoon, we’ll head to the lodge to rest in the heart of the African savannah.

We’ll continue our safari, venturing deeper into the stunning Serengeti National Park, reaching the river where we’ll see thousands of wildebeests and zebras heading towards the fresh grass of the Maasai Mara plains in Kenya. At the end of the day, we’ll return to camp, refreshed by the nature experience, and ready to rest.

On our last safari day, we’ll explore the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to nine volcanoes, including the impressive Ngorongoro Crater, and Olduvai Gorge, one of the most significant sites for human evolution research. Along the way, we’ll continue spotting many species of wildlife before heading to Arusha to spend the night in the comfort of a hotel.

After our Kilimanjaro climb and safari through the national parks, we’ll catch a flight to Zanzibar, a semi-autonomous region of Tanzania made up of two islands famous for their blue waters and stunning beaches. We’ll spend two nights there, relaxing in a 5-star hotel to finish our trip in style.

You’ll have the whole day free to relax, explore the island, or try out different activities like: diving in beautiful coral reefs, visiting The Rock, swimming with dolphins, kite surfing, visiting Prison Island, and checking out Nungwi and Kendwa beaches, among others.

On our last day, we’ll head back to Arusha. We’ll take a flight from Zanzibar to Kilimanjaro International Airport and then transfer to Moshi, where we’ll spend the final night before heading back home.

This is a physically demanding expedition. It’s ideal for mountaineers with previous experience in ascents over 4,000 or 5,000 meters. If you’ve done multi-day expeditions in cold and high-altitude conditions, you’ll be better prepared for this challenge.

We recommend a training program of 3 to 6 months, focused on cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, and altitude acclimatization. Activities like mountain hiking, trail running, and cycling are perfect.
