In one of the most isolated places in Colombia, in the Guainía department, we can find the Mavecure Hills. Three imposing rocks that elevate over the Colombian Amazon jungle, with up to 800 meters high and, in the middle of which, runs the majestic Inírida river that harbors the ancestral nature of some indigenous communities that live there. Simply, it is one of the most isolated places but one of the amazing ones in our country. These rocks belong to the Guyanes shield, one of the oldest geological formations on earth.
This is an enchanting travel through the beautiful rivers of the Colombian Amazon jungle, in which we will be visiting the imposing Mavecure Hills and its surrounding indigenous communities. The travel that is described above is a magical trip that takes us deep in the Amazon jungle, through its beautiful and diverse rivers, where we will have the possibility to observe its contrast and, besides, spend the night in one of its beaches with bright and starry sky above us. Climb to one of its summits, take a bath in one of the spectacular rivers, share with the indigenous communities, and observe the biological and cultural diversity present in this beautiful, yet savage territory, are the main attractions that this amazing experience offers.
This experience starts at the airport Cesar Gaviria in the city of Inírida. There we will meet with the guide and head to the hotel. We will check in and leave our luggage to head to the Sabanitas indigenous community located 15 minutes away by car. There we will have lunch, a typical indigenous preparation, while they let us know a bit about their customs and show us how thy process the cassava with poisonous yucca. One of the main feeding sources in the Amazon. Likewise, we will watch the process of preparation of the catara, mañoco and starch, edible products extracted from the yucca. In the afternoon, we will enjoy of a pleasant bath in the water of the beautiful oranges waters of the river that crosses the indigenous community. Then we will be back to the hotel, have dinner and rest.
Inirída altitude: 95 meters.
Flight Bogotá – Inírida: 1.5 hours.
Road trip to Sabanitas Community: 15 min.
Early in the morning we will sail towards the north through the Inírida river to the Estrella Fluvial, a place very important worldwide because is where many rivers such Guaviare, Inírida, Orinoco and Atabapo are born. At this point, we will be able to appreciate the spectacle that the confluence of the different sources of water brings; we will be able to see how white waters merge with dark waters. Afterwards, we will head to a place known as Maviso, where we will have the opportunity to have a bath in the red waters of the Atabapo River and enjoy its beautiful beaches of white sand.
At noon, we will go across the river to Amanaven in the department of Vichada, there, we will enjoy of a typical lunch. Afterward, we will sail the Inírida River for about three ours till we find in the horizon the gigantic Mavecure Hills. In our way we will be able to sight native birds and watch the dance of the pink dolphins. Once there, we will visit the community of El Remanso, who will offer us some amenities for our staying; later on we will go across the river and over the golden beaches, at the foot of the majestic hills we will set up our camp. At the end of the afternoon we will be able to bathe in the river and enjoy the view toward the vastness of the jungle, whose protagonists will always be the immense rocky bodies that radiate us with their energy during our stay. Later on, we will share dinner with local indigenous and get pick of their culture and customs, then we will rest in our campsite.

In the morning we will let the magic of the path catch us, while we are heading to Mavecure Hill summit. The silence of the place and its different scents typical of the variety of vegetation, embellish and stimulate the ascent, making the transit pleasant and quiet. Once we reach the summit we will enjoy the amazing view of the vast Amazon rainforest and the neighbor hills El Mono y El Pajarito. This is a proper place for meditation and to receive the energy coming from the rock, as well as to be in harmony with nature and to thank.
After each traveler enjoys the summit, we will descent and sail the river to Caño San Joaquin, where we will be able to enjoy its white beaches and bathe in its beautiful dark red waters. We will have lunch in El Remanso community and then, we will enjoy a tour guided by an indigenous who will take us to get to know the beautiful territory where his community lives.
We will rest in the afternoon.

Boat trip to Mavecure Hills – Caño San Joquin: 15 min.
Our day will start with a space to quietly enjoy the breakfast. Then we will walk for about three hours in the middle of the jungle with an indigenous guide who show us the shapes, colors and smells of the Amazon seeds and fruits. We will try new flavors while going through different paths around Cerro Pajarito, the biggest of the three hills. Once we end the walk, we will reach the Inírida river streams in the middle of the Mono and Pajarito Hills, where we will fin a boat that will take us to caño San Joaquín; there we will be able to bathe in its orange waters and enjoy of its white beaches.
Afterwards, we will be back to El Remanso community where we will have lunch and then, take a boat to the municipality of Inírida. In our way will make a stop in Caño Matraca to observe the pink dolphins and, if the level of the water allows us, enter to Las Brujas lagoon where we will be able to enjoy the waters of the region and witness a beautiful sunset. Short after, we will reach Inírida where we will have dinner and check in to the hotel to rest.

Boat trip Mavecure Hills – Caño San Joquin: 15 min.
Boat trip Mavecure Hills – Caño Matraca – Inírida: 2 hours.
Distance Inírida – Cerros de Mavecure: 67 km.
In our last day, we will head to the farm Flor de Inírida, where we will walk through a magical path that will allow us to get familiar with the different plants we can find in the jungle and its uses, valuing the powerful ancestral knowledge that the indigenous have had for centuries. Also, we will learn the utility of the traps that they use to hunt and fish, the way indigenous people provide food to their families. In our way we will learn as well, about the Inírida Flower and endemic plant with special characteristics, which is related to many myths and traditional tales. We will spend the last part of the journey getting to know and sharing the local culture and customs, given that they generously, open their territory for our enrichment and learning. We will have a typical lunch in the site.
Once we finish our activities, we will head to the airport to take a fly back to Bogota.
Note: in case the fly back is due to departure before noon, the activity will start early in the morning and will not include lunch.

It is an spectacular place…the rivers with white beaches, the red and orange shades in their water, the infinite Amazon jungle, the wisdom of the indigenous communities and the incredible Mavecure Hills, all of that makes this a charming trip.
